ZAMBIA YESTERDAY EXPERIENCED ITS FIRST EVER RECORDED EARTHQUAKE.
THE DISASTER MANAGEMENT AND MITIGATION UNIT NATIONAL COORDINATOR DOMINICIANO MULENGA CONFIRMED TO JOURNALISTS IN LUSAKA THIS MORNING THAT THE MODERATE EARTH QUAKE STRUCK AT ITEZHI TEZHI DAM AREA IN ITEZHI TEZHI DISTRICT IN SOUTHERN PROVINCE.
MR MULENGA SAYS THE AFTER SHOCKS OF THE EARTHQUAKE WERE FELT IN PARTS OF LUSAKA.
HE HAS HOWEVER STATED THAT THERE WERE NO DAMAGES RECORDED YET BUT THE NATION WILL BE AVAILED WITH MORE INFORMATION.
HE HAS DISCLOSED THAT THE DMMMU IN PARTNERSHIP WITH GEOLOGICAL SURVEY DEPARTMENT AT THE MINISTRY OF MINES AND ZAMBEZI RIVER AUTHORITY ARE STILL ASSESSING THE SITUATION AND THAT THE PUBLIC WILL BE INFORMED IF ANYTHING IS FOUND.
THE QUAKE WAS MEASURING 5.2 ON THE RICHTER SCALE.
