ZAMBIA'S LOCAL GOVERNMENT AND HOUSING MINISTER DR BRIAN CHITUWO SAYS HE IS WAITING FOR THE FINAL LAND AUDIT FOR ALL THE COUNCILS

LOCAL GOVERNMENT AND HOUSING  MINISTER DR BRIAN CHITUWO SAYS HE  IS WAITING FOR THE MINISTRY OF LANDS TO GIVE THEM THE FINAL LAND AUDIT FOR ALL THE COUNCILS IN THE COUNTRY.
AND DR CHITUWO SAYS HIS MINISTRY WILL NOT BE DETERRED BY ANY ONE FROM UNDERTAKING INVESTIGATIONS IN ALL COUNCILS BE IT THE  RULING OR OPPOSITION LED COUNCIL.
HE SAYS ONCE THE AUDITS ARE CONCLUDED PUNITIVE ACTION WILL BE INSTITUTED AND ANY ONE FOUND WANTING WILL BE BROUGHT TO BOOK.
THE LIVINGSTONE CITY COUNCIL SAYS IT HAS UNEARTHED A SCAM IN WHICH SOME UNSCRUPULOUS PEOPLE HAVE BEEN SWINDLING SOME UNSUSPECTING RESIDENTS THROUGH ILLEGAL SALE OF UNSURVEYED RESIDENTIAL PLOTS.
LIVINGSTONE CITY ACTING TOWN CLERK CLEMENT CHISANGA SAYS  THE LOCAL AUTHORITY WILL  CONSIDER SUCH TRANSACTIONS AS NULL AND VOID AS THEY WERE BEING CONDUCTED OUTSIDE THE TOWN AND COUNTRY PLANNING ACT CAP 283 AND THE HOUSING OF THE LAWS OF ZAMBIA.
THIS WAS CONTAINED IN A NOTICE AVAILED TO ZANIS IN LIVINGSTONE.
MR. CHISANGA SAID THE LIVINGSTONE CITY COUNCIL WILL DEMOLISH ANY STRUCTURES CONSTRUCTED ON THE ILLEGALLY ACQUIRED PLOTS.
HE HAS SINCE WARNED RESIDENTS THAT HAVE BOUGHT PLOTS ILLEGALLY TO IMMEDIATELY STOP ANY WORKS THEY ARE CARRYING OUT ON THE PLOTS.
AREAS THAT HAVE RECORDED AN INCREASE IN ILLEGAL SELLING AND DEVELOPMENT OF SOME PLOTS INCLUDE ‘B’ AND ‘D’ SECTION IN LIBUYU COMPOUND AND THE AREA NEAR FORMER NAMBOARD DEPOT IN ZAMBEZI WARD.
