Frontier Resources International has been granted a four-year petroleum exploration licence in Zambia.
The licence is for an initial four year period and commenced on 25 March 2011.
According to the company, the licence is for block 34 which covers 6,000 square kilometres in the Kafue Trough south-west of the capital Lusaka.
This area has had no previous hydrocarbon exploration but may form a part of the south-western extension of the productive East African Rift System.
Frontier - which was awarded the block in February - was granted the licence by the Zambian Ministry of Mines and Minerals Development after completing the application process.

This is the first exploration licence in the southern African region that has been awarded to Frontier where the Company plans to pursue additional opportunities.
The Company has started the initial geological study of the Block prior to undertaking aeromagnetic and aerogravity data in the future.
The Company's existing oil and gas producing properties are onshore Texas.
