THE ZAMBIAN GOVERNMENT CHALLENGED TO EXPEDITIOUSLY BRING TO BOOK INDIVIDUALS THAT MISAPPROPRIATED FUNDS AT MINISTRY OF HEALTH

THE ZAMBIAN GOVERNMENT HAS BEEN CHALLENGED TO EXPEDITIOUSLY BRING TO BOOK INDIVIDUALS THAT MISAPPROPRIATED FUNDS THAT LED TO SUBSEQUENT FREEZING OF THE FINANCIAL SUPPORT TO  ZAMBIA’S HEALTH SECTOR.
ON THURSDAY, GOVERNMENT ANNOUNCED THAT IT HAS TRANSFERRED K9.1 BILLION INTO THE GLOBAL FUND ACCOUNT AS PART OF THE REFUND OF THE MONEY THAT WAS MISAPPROPRIATED BY THE MINISTRY OF HEALTH.
BUT CARITAS ZAMBIA EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR SAM MULAFULAFU HAS TOLD RADIO PHOENIX THAT THE ISSUE OF MAJOR CONCERN IS NOT REPAYING THE FUND BUT BRINGING  TO BOOK THOSE THAT MISAPPROPRIATED THE RESOURCES AT THE MINISTRY OF HEALTH.
MR MULAFULAFU SAYS  GOVERNMENT HAS GROSSLY DELAYED IN BRINGING TO BOOK THOSE THAT MISUSED THE FINANCIAL RESOURCES.
THE COUNTRY HAS GONE THROUGH CHALLENGING TIMES WITH THE IMPLEMENTATION OF GLOBAL FUND SUPPORTED PROGRAMMES FOLLOWING THE DISCOVERY OF THE FRAUD IN THE MINISTRY OF HEALTH.
THE REPORTS OF MISAPPROPRIATION RESULTED IN DELAYED DISBURSEMENTS TO ZAMBIA BY  THE GLOBAL FUND AS REQUESTS FROM ZAMBIA WERE UNDERGOING SERIOUS SCRUTINY.
