GERMAN AMBASSADOR TO ZAMBIA FRANK MEYKE SAYS HE EXPECTS THIS YEAR’S PARLIAMENTARY AND PRESIDENTIAL GENERAL ELECTIONS TO BE FREE AND FAIR.
HE STATES THAT THE TRIPARTITE ELECTIONS SHOULD BE PEACEFUL AND TRANSPARENT.
AMBASSADOR MEYKE SAID SUCH DEMOCRATIC ELECTIONS INCLUDING AN
ISSUE-ORIENTED ELECTION CAMPAIGN WOULD BE A PARTICULARLY POSITIVE SIGNAL FOR GERMAN INVESTORS AND BUSINESS PARTNERS.
SPEAKING AT THE ZAMBIA-BUSINESS INFORMATION CONFERENCES IN BERLIN, MR. MEYKE CALLED ON THE GERMAN AND ZAMBIAN COMPANIES TO TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THE NUMEROUS BUSINESS OPPORTUNITIES SO FAR UNTAPPED DEVELOPING THE BILATERAL ECONOMIC RELATIONS TO THEIR FULLEST POTENTIAL.
HE ADDS THAT IN THE FIRST WEEK OF MAY THIS YEAR, A DELEGATION OF THE GERMAN MINISTRY OF AGRICULTURE CONSISTING OF GOVERNMENT AND PRIVATE SECTOR REPRESENTATIVES WILL VISIT ZAMBIA IN ORDER TO IDENTIFY FIELDS OF COOPERATION IN THE AGRICULTURAL SECTOR, INCLUDING BUSINESS OPPORTUNITIES.
AMBASSADOR MEYKE SAID THE OBJECTIVE OF BILATERAL COOPERATION OF THE GERMAN MINISTRY OF AGRICULTURE WITH COUNTRIES WORLDWIDE,
PARTICULARLY IN AFRICA, ASIA AND SOUTH AMERICA, IS TO PROVIDE A CONTRIBUTION TO ENSURING FOOD SECURITY.
HE ADDS THAT IN JUNE A DELEGATION OF GERMAN COMPANIES WITH BRANCHES IN SOUTH AFRICA WILL VISIT ZAMBIA TO IDENTIFY BUSINESS OPPORTUNITIES WHILE ANOTHER GERMAN BUSINESS DELEGATION WHICH IS EXPECTED IN NOVEMBER TO ASSESS BUSINESS OPPORTUNITIES.
