INTERMARKET BANK AND ITS PARTNERS HAVE RESERVED K100 MILLION IN PRIZE MONEY TO BE AWARDED TO THE WINNING FINALISTS AND WILL FURTHER PROVIDE ON GOING MENTORSHIP AND SUPPORT TO THE PARTICIPATING TEAMS TO GUIDE THEM TOWARDS REALIZING THEIR BUSINESS CONCEPTS IN A REAL WORLD ENVIRONMENT.
THE K100 MILLION VENTURECOMP BUSINESS COMPETITION WHICH STARTED LAST YEAR IS THE SECOND IN RUNNING WITH THE FIRST ONE HAVING BEEN WON BY ZED BIONIC OF NORTHRISE UNIVERSITY.
SPEAKING AT THE LAUNCH IN LUSAKA THIS MORNING, INTERMARKET BANK MANAGING DIRECTOR ACKIM SINKALA EXPLAINED THAT THE COMPETITION IS OPEN TO STUDENTS CURRENTLY ENROLLED OR UNDERTAKING STUDIES AT HIGHER INSTITUTIONS OF LEARNING THAT ARE REGISTERED WITH TECHNICAL EDUCATION, VOCATIONAL AND ENTREPRENEURSHIP TRAINING AUTHORITY (TEVETA) UNDER THE TEVET ACT AND UNIVERSITY ACT.
MR SINKALA SAYS THE EFFORTS BY GOVERNMENT TO BUILD HUMAN CAPITAL IN HIGHER INSTITUTIONS OF LEARNING NEEDS TO BE AUGMENTED BY THE MATERIAL AND TECHNICAL SUPPORT FROM PRIVATE BUSINESS HOUSES.
AND TEVETA DIRECTOR FOR DEVELOPMENT DAVID CHAKONTA EXPRESSED HOPE THAT MORE STUDENTS WILL COME ON BOARD STATING THAT THEY TARGET TO REACH ALL THE NINE PROVINCES OF ZAMBIA.
HE SAYS THE COMPETITION IS THE PLATFORM FOR OPENING AND LINKING THE STUDENTS TO THE REAL BUSINESS WORLD.
AND LUSAKA STOCK EXCHANGE GENERAL MANAGER BEATRICE NKANZA HAS APPEALED TO FINANCIAL INSTITUTIONS WITH THE SMALL MEDIUM ENTREPRENEURS’ COMPONENTS TO COME ON BOARD AND HELP IN EQUIPPING THE YOUTHS WITH TECHNICAL AND ENTREPRENEURIAL SKILLS.
