citizen forum says the social contracts will be ready by June

Citizen forum has revealed that it will ensure that all political leaders are made to sign the social contracts before they are voted into office in this year general elections.
It is anticipated that this year’s general election will be heated especially as the setting of an election date is at the discretion of the incumbent president.
Citizen forum executive secretary Simon Kabanda has told radio phoenix that politicians should brace themselves to meet with the people on the ground and explain real issues and not just politicking.
Mr Kabanda however stressed that due to limited resources the organization will only manage to carry out massive sensitization by June latest this year across the whole country.
He reiterated that the social contracts are vital as they help make the politicians accountable to the promises that they make to the electorates ahead of an election.
During the 2008 presidential by-election the citizen forum started the similar programme but none of the aspiring candidates agreed to append their signature on the social contracts.
Meanwhile, Mr Kabanda has described the current political scenario as nose-hurting.
He pointed out that politicians are not giving inspiration and hope to the general citizenry as they only interested in coming into office or return their seats at the expense of the people’s social needs.
