THE DANISH GOVERNMENT HAS PHASED OUT BILATERAL COOPERATION FROM SEVEN COUNTRIES INCLUDING ZAMBIA

THE DANISH GOVERNMENT HAS PHASED OUT BILATERAL COOPERATION FROM SEVEN COUNTRIES INCLUDING ZAMBIA FOLLOWING PRESSURE ARISING FROM THE GLOBAL FINANCIAL CRISIS.
THIS IS ACCORDING TO A NEWS STATEMENT RELEASED BY THE ROYAL DANISH EMBASSY IN LUSAKA TODAY.
THE STATEMENT INDICATES THAT THE PHASING OUT OF BILATERAL AID TO ZAMBIA WILL BE UNDERTAKEN IN SUCH A WAY  THAT ALL COMMITMENTS WILL BE HONOURED TO ENSURE THE GOOD RESULTS ACHIEVED ARE NOT LOST.
THE ROYAL DANISH EMBASSY  HAS HOWEVER EXPLAINED THAT THE PHASING OUT OF AID WILL BE CONCLUDED BY THE END OF 2013.
THE STATEMENT EMPHASIZED THAT THERE ARE NO PLANS TO CLOSE THE DANISH EMBASSY IN LUSAKA BECAUSE DIPLOMATIC RELATIONS WILL CONTINUE.
ACCORDING TO THE STATEMENT, THE DANISH GOVERNMENT HAS DECIDED TO REDUCE DANISH PARTNERS FROM 26 TO 15; AND OTHER COUNTRIES AFFECTED ARE BENIN, BHUTAN, BOLIVIA, CAMBOADIA, NICARAGUA AND VIETNAM.
MEANWHILE, THE DANISH GOVERNMENT HAS PREDICTED THAT ZAMBIA HAS GREATER PROSPECTS OF HIGHER GROWTH THROUGH EXPLOITATION OF RESOURCES IN AGRICULTURE, MINING AND ENERGY SECTORS AMONG OTHERS.
