UNZASU urges political parties to base their campaigns on issues

The university of Zambia student’s union has called on all political parties and leaders to ensure peaceful polls in 2011 by promoting issue based campaigns and tolerance for elections.
The union said it expectations that political parties will desist from the tradition of using students and youths for political mileage during this year’s election.
According to a news statement signed by unzasu secretary general Otis matongo and publicity and information secretary mutinta lunda, the union will continue to sensitize and provide checks and balances so as to contribute to the eradication of violence during elections in order to uphold the tenets of democracy.
