THE ANTI-COPPER THEFT SQUAD OF THE ZAMBIA POLICE SERVICE IN CHINGOLA HAS IMPOUNDED A TRUCK

THE ANTI-COPPER THEFT SQUAD OF THE ZAMBIA POLICE SERVICE IN CHINGOLA HAS IMPOUNDED A TRUCK THAT WAS CARRYING COPPER CHROME SUSPECTED TO HAVE BEEN SMUGGLED FROM THE DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC OF CONGO.
COPPERBELT PROVINCE POLICE CHIEF DR MARTIN MALAMA CONFIRMED THE DEVELOPMENT ADDING THAT TWO SUSPECTS HAVE SINCE BEEN DETAINED IN CONNECTION WITH THE THEFT.
DR. MALAMA  WHO SAID THE POLICE ACTED ON A TIP FROM THE PUBLIC EXPLAINED THAT THE TRUCK WAS TRYING TO DELIVER THE COPPER CHROME IN KITWE WHEN POLICE INTERCEPTED IT.
MEANWHILE, THE COPPERBELT POLICE CHIEF HAS EXPLAINED THAT COPPER THIEVES HAVE DEVELOPED SCHEMES AIMED DISCREDITING CERTAIN POLICE OFFICERS INVOLVED IN THE FIGHT AGAINST MINERAL THEFTS BY INSINUATING THAT SOME SENIOR POLICE OFFICERS BELONG TO CERTAIN POLITICAL PARTIES, BUT VOWED THAT THE SCHEMES WILL NOT HELP THE THIEVES BECAUSE THE PUBLIC KNOWS BETTER.
DR. MALAMA HAS SINCE VOWED THAT THE ZAMBIA POLICE SERVICE ON THE COPPERBELT WILL REMAIN PROFESSIONAL AND BRING SANITY IN THE COUNTRY.
