GOVERNMENT HAS INDICATED THAT IT IS CLOSELY MONITORING THE SITUATION AND WORKING WITH THE ZAMBIAN EMBASSY IN EGYPT REGARDING THE SAFETY OF ZAMBIANS LIVING IN THAT COUNTRY.
ACTING FOREIGN AFFAIRS MINISTER LIEUTENANT GENERAL RONNIE SHIKAPWASHA HAS SAID IN THE STATEMENT THAT THE EMBASSY HAS INDICATED THAT NO ZAMBIAN HAS BEEN KILLED OR INJURED.
GENERAL SHIKAPWASHA ADDS THAT GOVERNMENT WILL KEEP A CLOSE EXAMINATION OF THE SITUATION AND WILL INFORM THE NATION OF ANY DEVELOPMENTS.
EGYPT ONE OF THE POWER COUNTRIES HAS BEEN EMBROILED IN MASSIVE PROTESTS WITH MOST CITIZENS CALLING FOR THE RESIGNATION OF PRESIDENT HOSNI MUBARAK WHO HAS HOWEVER DECLINED TO DO SO.
