Zambia's govt call for commitment in ensuirng job evaluation

ZAMBIA'S WESTERN PROVINCE PERMANENT SECRETARY SETH MULEYA HAS CALLED FOR COMMITMENT FROM GOVERNMENT AND THE PUBLIC SERVICE UNIONS IN ENSURING THAT THE JOB EVALUATION PROGRAMME SUCCEEDS.
SPEAKING DURING THE OFFICIAL OPENING OF THE JOB EVALUATION EXERCISE CONSULTATIVE MEETING, IN MONGU , MR. MULEYA SAID THE EXERCISE WHICH IS EXPECTED TO TAKE SIX MONTHS CAN ONLY BE ACHIEVED WITH THE FULL COMMITMENT FROM GOVERNMENT AND PUBLIC SERVICE UNIONS IN MOBILIZING STAFF TO COOPERATE WITH THE CONSULTING FIRM.
HE EXPLAINED THAT GOVERNMENT LAUNCHED AND WILL BE CARRYING OUT A JOB EVALUATION IN THE PUBLIC SERVICE IN LINE WITH THE RECOMMENDATION OF THE MEDIUM TERM PAY REFORM STRATEGY (MTPRS) AND THE PUBLIC SERVICE PAY POLICY IN AN EFFORT TO ASSESS ALL JOBS IN THE PUBLIC SERVICE.
THE PERMANENT SECRETARY SAID ONCE COMPLETED THE EXERCISE WILL ADDRESS CONCERNS RAISED ON JOB GRADES ON SALARY STRUCTURE AND EMPLOYEE’S PERCEPTION ON FAIRNESS OF THE JOB GRADING SYSTEM AND SALARY STRUCTURES WHICH ARE IMPORTANT FOR JOB SATISFACTION AND WORK MOTIVATIONS AMONG OTHER THINGS TO BE CONCEDED.
AND SPEAKING DURING THE SAME MEETING MUYUNDA MWALYA A CONSULTANT FROM GRANT THORNTON ASSOCIATES CHALLENGED THE PUBLIC SERVICE WORKERS NOT  TO COMPETE WITHIN THERE SELVES  AND PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATION  BUT WITH THE WORLD IN TERMS OF PERFORMANCE.
MR. MWALYA URGED THE CIVIL SERVANTS NOT TO ONLY CONSIDER ONE’S QUALIFICATIONS BUT ONE’S PERFORMANCE AND COMMITMENT IN SERVICE DELIVERY IN IMPLEMENTING GOVERNMENT SERVICES.
