THE LUSAKA MAGISTRATE`S COURT HAS ACQUITTED BRITISH NATIONAL KEN SPOONER AND HIS CO-ACCUSED.
THIS IS A MATTER IN WHICH SPOONER WAS CHARGED WITH CONSIPIRING TO COMMIT A FELONY, NAMELY TO STEAL.
HE IS ALLEGED TO HAVE CONSIPIRED WITH THE NUN WHO WAS LOOKING AFTER HIS CHILDREN DEVELAN AND CAELAN SPOONER TO STEAL THEIR PASSPORTS FROM THEIR MOTHER`S RESIDENT.
DELIVERING JUDGEMENT THIS MORNING, MAGISTRATE FAIDES HAMAUNDU ACQUITTED THE TWO ACCUSED PERSONS STATING THAT THE ALLEGATIONS AGAINST THEM WERE FLAMED.
MAGISTRATE HAMAUNDU NOTED THAT THERE IS NO WAY SPOONER COULD HAVE CONSPIRED WITH THE NUN TO STEAL THE PASSPORTS OF HIS CHILDREN WHEN HE HAD EMERGENCY TRAVEL DOCUMENTS FOR THEM FROM THE BRITISH HIGH COMMISSION UPON WHICH THERE IS NO EVIDENCE INDICATING THAT SUCH DOCUMENTS WERE NULLIFIED.
SHE HAS TOLD THE COURT THAT SHE IS SADDENED WITH THE FIGHTING BETWEEN THE TWO PARENTS , NAMELY KEN SPOONER AND ZANETA NYENDWA AS IT IS NOT IN THE INTEREST OF THE CHILDREN.
AND SPEAKING TO JOURNALISTS AFTER THE RULING, MR SPOONER SAID HE IS HAPPY WITH THE JUDGEMENT AND HIS LAWYERS WILL NOW PROCEED TO PURSUE LEGAL MATTERS IN ZAMBIAN COURTS SO THAT HIS CHILDREN CAN BE RETURNED TO THEIR NATURAL HABITAT, THE UNITED KINGDOM.
