UNITED STATES GOVERNMENT REPRESENTATIVE HAS NOTED THAT NEW CASES OF HIV AND AIDS HAVE DECLINED SHARPLY THROUGH OUT THE WORLD.
SPEAKING DURING THE COMMEMORATION OF WORLD AIDS DAY IN LUSAKA TODAY, DR LAWRENCE MARUM WHO IS ALSO  DIRECTOR AT THE CENTER FOR DISEASE CONTROL AND PRVENTION, SAYS THE MINISTRY OF HEALTH HAS TO BE COMMENDED FOR ITS VISION TO ELIMINATE MOTHER TO CHILD TRANSMISSION .
DR. MARUM SAYS THERE IS HOPE THAT MOTHER TO CHILD TRANSMISSION OF HIV CAN BE ELIMINATED THROUGH JOINT TESTING OF COUPLES BEFORE AND DURING PREGNACY THROUGH BETTER COMBINATION OF DRUGS.
AND LUSAKA PROVINCE MINISTER CHARLES SHAWA SAYS THE HIV PANDEMIC THREATENS THE CORE OF DEVELOPMENTAL PROGRAMMES IN THE DISTRICT BECAUSE THE MOST AT RISK OF INFECTION ARE THE PRODUCTIVE AGE GROUP BETWEEN 15-45YEARS.
MR SHAWA SAYS IT IS THEREFORE NECESSARY  THAT THIS YEAR’S THEME FOR WORLD AIDS DAY EMPHASISES HUMAN RIGHTS IN THE FIGHT AGAINST HIV.
THE  THEME FOR THIS YEARS WORLD AIDS DAY IS ACCESS TO PREVENTION, TREATMENT AND CARE IS MY RIGHT.
