GOVERNMENT URGED TO IMMEDIATELY PUT IN PLACE THE LOCAL GOVERNMENT COMMISSIONERS SERVICE WITHOUT ANY FURTHER DELAY

THE ZAMBIA UNITED LOCAL AUTHORITY WORKERS UNION HAVE DEMANDED THAT GOVERNMENT THROUGH THE MINISTRY OF LOCAL GOVERNMENT AND HOUSING IMMEDIATELY PUT IN PLACE THE LOCAL GOVERNMENT COMMISSIONERS SERVICE WITHOUT ANY FURTHER DELAY.
ZULAWU GENERAL SECRETARY MISHECK NYAMBOSE HAS NOTED THAT THE NON EXISTENCE OF THE COMMISSIONERS’ SERVICE IN THE LOCAL AUTHORITIES HAS CRIPPLED THE COUNCILS IN THE COUNTRY AS MOST OF THE WORK IS NOT BEING DONE ACCORDING TO THE CORE PRINCIPLE OF THE COUNCIL IN TERMS OF SERVICE PROVISION.
MR NYAMBOSE HAS CHARGED THAT MOST OF WORK WHICH WAS DONE BY THE SERVICE COMMISSIONERS LIKE PRESIDING OVER LOCAL AUTHORITIES’ CASES HAS BEEN PUT UNDER JEOPARDY AS THERE IS NO PROGRESS ON THE APPOINTMENT OF THE COMMISSIONERS WHO PRESIDE OVER THE MATTER IN QUESTIONS.
THE GENERAL SECRETARY SAYS GOVERNMENT MUST QUICKLY APPOINT THE COMMISSIONER TO HELP EXPEDITE THE PROBLEMS THAT THE COUNCILS COUNTRY WIDE ARE FACING AND FAILURE TO DOING SO WILL RESULT IN THE CONTINUED POOR LOCAL GOVERNMENT SERVICE PROVISION.
HE HAS OBSERVED THAT THE LACK OF LOCAL GOVERNMENT SERVICE COMMISSIONERS HAS RESULTED IN LOCAL AUTHORITY WORKERS BEEN PAID POOR SALARIES.
AND MR NYAMBOSE HAS CHARGED THAT THE LOCAL AUTHORITIES HAVE NO DIRECTION AND ARE GOING BACKWARDS DUE TO THE LACK OF THE COMMISSIONER AND ARE NOT OFFERING THE SERVICE TO THE PUBLIC ACCORDING.
END///////
