Plans are underway by the Electoral Commission of Zambia in
collaboration with the Ministry of Education, to mainstream Democracy and the electoral process, into Primary and secondary school curriculum.
This is part of ECZ’s efforts to enhance democracy and ensure that
people exercise the right to vote.

Justice Mumba who was in India for a study tour of the country’s
electoral system noted that voter apathy in Zambia was a source of
major concern.
Justice Mumba said to respond to this challenge, ECZ was working with civil society and political parties to conduct voter education and raise awareness of the importance on governance issues.
Justice Mumba who was accompanied by Commissioner Minerva Tembo also
revealed that ECZ was with the support of the European Union,
training Police Officers in policing elections.

She added that effecting of the process of delimitation of constituencies in the country would only be made after parliament endorses that.

She described Zambia’s electoral process as open and transparent.
AND speaking earlier Acting Zambian High Commissioner to India Brig. General Allan Kalebuka said the Mission was striving hard to tap India’s best practices in social and economic spheres for the good of Zambia.
