Zambia receives a total of $13 million from peacekeeping

Zambia`s permanent representative to the United Nations Lazarus Kapembwa has disclosed that the country has received meaningful technical and financial assistance from the global world.
In an interview with radio phoenix staffer Rhoda Mfwango in New York city, Mr Kapembwa indicated that the country receive a total of 8 or 13 million dollars each year from the peace keeping missions that the defence force undertake.
He however indicated that the country till to date sends very few soldiers for peace keeping which he attributed to limited training and capacity in terms of equipment of the defence force.
Mr Kapembwa further explained that most of the times the United Nations uses the cost effective measures when engaging a country in peace keeping missions.
Zambia defence force despite participating in a number of peace keeping operations throughout the world for years now is still ranked among the least.
